The Red Bull KTM Factory team enjoyed a successful weekend at the Bonver Grand Prix of Czech Republic as Tony Cairoli and Marvin Musquin both won their respective classes.
Cairoli’s grand prix victory was his third in a row – and sixth this season – as he stretched his lead at the top of the standings to 84 points with just three rounds to go. The Italian’s closest challenger for the world title, Clement Desalle, struggled at the start of the first moto and could only finish second behind Cairoli.
The defending world champion didn’t have it all his own way in Loket though, losing out in the first moto as Tanel Leok claimed victory. The Estonian looked to be on course for his second grand prix win of 2010 before a crash hampered his challenge in moto two, although he recovered well to claim a place on the overall podium.
"I had some problems with my goggles and I didn't see so well,” Cairoli said. “I was having a problem with the tear-offs and Tanel Leok passed me. Then I got the problem fixed and I tried to attack in the last part of the race but this is a track that it's very difficult to overtake.
"The second heat was nice because I had a great start and I got the holeshot. I knew that Clement Desalle was behind me so I tried to pull away and make a gap and I managed to do this in the last 10 minutes."

Meanwhile in the MX2 race, Musquin put his run of bad luck in the Czech Republic behind him as he came on top of a close battle with Ken Roczen. The Frenchman had broken his foot and then engine on his previous two visits to Loket but he recovered well from a slip in the first moto to take second and then won the second moto to claim overall victory.
The gap at the top of the standings remains 78 points as Roczen won the first moto, and the pair finished the grand prix level on points. Musquin therefore remains on course to clinch the world title, which he won last year in Brazil – the championship’s next stop.
"I am very happy to be in first place on the podium,” the 20-year-old said. “Today it was very close with Ken Roczen. He was very fast and this track is very difficult. I pushed very hard in the second moto to win the GP and it's very good for me and my team and the championship.”
