As the final pre-season MotoGP test comes to an end in Qatar ahead of the first race at the same Losail circuit, Dani Pedrosa draws breath and takes stock…
Hello everyone
In less than two days, we will be immersed in the first round of the World Championship, and to be honest you can already see the evidence all around you. So, these last few days have brought on the typical nerves you get before a championship, but you’re obviously still really eager to get going once and for all.
Thursday’s finishing touches should relax these nerves and I can be as focused as possible for the weekend.
The good feelings we had with the bike in Malaysia have been confirmed in Qatar, a different and demanding circuit, and we needed to do that on a circuit as peculiar as Losail. The lack of grip on the track by the absence of other competitions throughout the year and running at night are two handicaps we have had in mind during those days.
In this last test, we’ve continued working on the electronics and looked much more at braking. Although good feeling with the bike might have been confirmed in recent tests, we are still very wary of the race. You never know how things will go until you're on-track and the lights goes out!
I mustn’t miss this opportunity to send my support to all the people who are having such a terrible time after the disaster of recent days in Japan. As you can imagine, much of my Honda team, as well as those elsewhere in the rest of the paddock, are experiencing this first-hand, with many of them directly in touch with friends and family in these difficult situations. I send my best wishes to them.
Dani
