Junior Surf Masters day two Red Bull

Gold Coast, Queensland, Saturday July 10, 2010: DAY-TWO of the Red Bull Junior Surf Masters saw Mick Fanning’s 12 hand-picked wildcards enter the competition and dominate the day’s action.

Although today’s round of the finals was non-elimination, there was still plenty up for grabs ahead of the event’s conclusion tomorrow, with the winners from today’s ‘Torched’ rounds automatically advancing to the event’s quarter finals.

Advancing to the quarter finals today was Mitch Crews (Currumbin, Qld), Chris Friend (Alex Headland, Qld), Matt Banting (Port Macquarie, NSW) and Ty Watson (Currarong, NSW).

The 16 remaining surfers from today have now been seeded into the re-qualification rounds where they will fight it out for only four remaining spots in tomorrow’s quarter finals.

Fighting it out for the four remaining spots in the quarter final round is some of the world’s best professional junior surfers including the likes of Chris Salisbury (Newport, NSW), Davey Cathels (Narrabeen, NSW), Jack Freestone (Coolangatta, Qld), Perth Standlick (Bondi, NSW) and Brent Savage (Casuarina, NSW) just to name a few.

Following today's surf action, Sydney rockers The Take stormed the stage and rocked the crowd in a 45-minute set.

Running at the beaches in front of Broadbeach on the Gold Coast, the 2010 Red Bull Junior Surf Masters will conclude tomorrow, with an action packed day stacked full of surfing, music from Yves Klein Blue and with the man himself - Mick Fanning casting an eye over Australia’s next crop of surfing champions.

Surfing action kicks off at 8am and Yves Klein Blue will take to the stage at 3pm tomorrow. This event is free to attend, so if you are on the Gold Coast grab your mates and head to Broadbeach for the final day of Red Bull Junior Surf Masters!
