We catch up with freeskiing star Jon Olsson as he continues his alpine adventure and pops over to Monaco for a well-deserved shopping break...

January 12 – Monaco: Shoe Shopping

Yesterday did not turn out as planned! ;-)

We had planned for a little walk and a quick lunch. Somehow that turned into a loooong wine lunch followed by a shoe shopping session! As Janni is a shoeaholic and works in a shoe shop in Stockholm she loves shoes just as much as I do so we made a great team when crushing the streets of Monaco! I have always wanted a pair of Christian Louboutin sneakers but as they cost half a fortune I wanted to make sure I found the perfect ones, so I was super stoked when I found these!

Right now its time to get serious again and head towards Meribel!

January 11 – Monaco: Kuske recap

Good morning!

I might sound like a workaholic when I say that it felt great when the alarm went off at 6 am this morning, on a day when I have nothing on my schedule. I am however a bit behind in work after a week without internet, so digging into it filled with fresh morning energy felt perfect! While I keep doing that I thought I would post a video from Kuske who joined me to Fonna last year. Cant wait for the spring to come!

January 11 – Monaco: -15 to +15

Coming from Åre and -15 to this was better than fantastic!

When we arrived to MC we dug stright into it and did the things that needed to be done when in Monaco this time!

  • Check boats
  • Get residence card (Lived here for 6 years now!!!)
  • Visit the bank
  • Get groceries
  • Cook an amazing Pasta carbonara (Vapiano style)

So now all we have to do is watch a few episodes of the Vamps Diaries! ;-) A good day! And yes, I am happy Oskar is back! ;-)

January 9 – Stockholm: The Transporter

Today I am the driver of a real transporter!

Just before I met Janni she got a new place but as I have dragged her along around the world five times over the past three months she had yet to find the time to move her stuff but today she hired me as a truckdriver and dug into it! Just finished carrying the furnitures which gave me a great work out as it was on the 5th floor!

Flying to MC at 6 am tomorrow!

January 7 – Åre: Sunrise racing

Today was not a warm day, today was a very cold "minus 15 in a speed suit" day! ;-) Snow was far from good and skiing felt pretty terrible as the snow was breaking away from us if we applied any kind of pressure on our skis…

I did not really care about that as it was just so nice to head up the lift and enjoy the sun raise and breath a ton of fresh air! I feel that any day I get to head up the lift is a good day, it gives me a sort of energy that I cant get from anything else and makes me relax in an amazing way!

One last day of training tomorrow on the SG skis and then off to Sthlm before we head back home to Monaco! I have enjoyed a week without internet but I am really looking forward to a few 5 am mornings with my own fast internet so I can catch up on my overfull inbox!!!

January 7 – Åre: Jon becoming Hans?

Today I did something that I have not done in a few years! I strapped on the Super G boards and headed out for a speed session with the EC team here in Åre! I have been a bit against speed skiing for the simple reason that I it looked scary and it just seemed easier to keep running laps with my GS skis every day. I have heard from a lot of coaches over the past few years that it would be smart for me to do some SG as that would really help my GS skiing but I have refused! Today Tomas Sjödin convinced me to give it a try!

My first thought while doing a flying inspection was that this looks super fun so when I headed up for the first run I was really excited. When I crossed the finish line 46 sec later I was more then excited! Sure SG can be a lot more intiminating then a "soft half course day" in Åre, but I do know that I want more of this, especially after watching the times that where a LOT better then I expected! (like really good!) Maybe I even have a future in SG? ;-) Well maybe not but I did have a great time and I think maybe I should join my brother a bit more to get my body used to some more speed!

Back on the GS boards tomorrow but I have to admit that if I could chose I would do another day on the speed skis! ;-)

Schedule for the next few days will be something like this!

* 6th GS training
* 7th GS training
* 8th Travel to Sthlm
* 9th Sthlm
* 10th Travel to Monaco
* 11th Monaco
* 12th Travel to Meribel
* 13th Train in Meribel
* 14th EC Super G in Meribel???? ;-)
* 15th EC race in Meribel

All the best!

JON
