Double Grab by Josh Sheehan.jpg

Josh Sheehan's backyard is one of the best FMX compunds we have seen in Australia. So what better place for him to walk us through how to do some of his favourite tricks. In this article, Josh shows you how to do ruler flips, lazy boy flips, one handed superman grabs and big old whips.

Ruler flip
I need my flip/assist levers up and head into the ramp just a little slower than usual. On the ramp I pull back as hard as I can while revving the bike to get as much rotation as possible. As soon as I leave the ramp, I look through my arms and push off with my feet to get the bike up and my body down. I spot the landing at full extension and my wrists hit the flip levers which I then use to push my body back around onto the bike. I love this angle, close up and huge extension.

Lazyboy flip
I jump doing a normal backflip, then throw the legs up and head back and clamp the forks with my thighs. Then I take my hands off and reach above my head trying to straighten the body out.. In this shot I love the colors and patterns in the sky.

One-Hand Superman Seat Grab
I head up the ramp and jump normally. When I leave the ramp, I shift my body weight back, grab the seat with my left hand and push my legs back behind the bike and take my right hand off the bars. Awesome and unique close up shot with nice blue and green background.

Whip

To get the whip upside down as much as possible, I sit down on the ramp. I start at the right side of the run up, head towards the left side of the ramp, lean off to the right and pull back on the bars to start the whip nice and early. I turn the bars to the left so the gyro affect of the wheel helps get the bike as high as possible. When the back end gets nice and high, I get my body back up to the left of the bike to pull the bike straight. I love how the bike is lit up and you still get the sunset colours.
