Marquez is number one Repsol Media

Red Bull Ajo Motorsport rider Marc Marquez won the MotoGp 125cc World Championship by a comfortable margin after easing to fourth place in the final MotoGP 125cc race of the season in Valencia, Spain.

Marquez came into the GP De La Com 125cc race 17 points ahead of his closest rival, Nico Terol, and after claiming his 12th pole position of the season in qualifying, the Spaniard rode a sensible race just off the pace to make sure of the title.

The race was won by Britain's Bradley Smith, who overtook Marquez at the start and was never headed, but Marquez knew that his advantage over Terol was such that he could afford to ride well within himself on his number 93 Derbi.

There was but one minor scare for the champion, when Pol Espargaro almost came together with Marquez in his quest to make up ground, but Marquez simply pulled back and allowed Esparago through.

Marquez's victory margin in the overall standings was 14 points from Terol, with Espargaro back in third.

The 17-year-old won 10 times from 17 starts in 2011 and is expected to join the Moto2 class next season.
