US-entertainer Jay Leno, host of The Tonight Show, got himself to the Red Bull Indianapolis GP in style, in the form of the one and only Red Bull MXT event vehicle.

Show host Jay Leno flew to Indy from Los Angeles on August 29, the morning of the Red Bull Indianapolis GP race, won by Dani Pedrosa. Rather than sit in the back of a big, boring SUV, Leno, a well-know car and bike afficionado, was offered the chance to chauffeur himself to the historic track in the behemoth truck, which greeted him at the airport with the roof popped up and the panels open.

"Wow!", was Leno's first reaction upon seeing the MXT. After making the six-mile journey, made even easier by a police escort, he said driving the Red Bull MXT was great, and the truck rode well.

Once inside IMS, the 60-year-old show host and car collector (Leno owns over a hundred automobiles, among them Jaguars, Corvettes and Bentleys) met most of the MotoGP riders, including Pedrosa and his team-mate and fellow Red Bull athlete Andrea Dovizioso, who finished fifth in the scorching-hot conditions.

“The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is one of the greatest spectator tracks in the world,” Leno said. “Thankfully my R1 will stay in the Big Dog Garage as I plan to watch and cheer on our three Americans right from the pits.”

Leno’s role as grand marshal extends his involvement with both the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and MotoGP.
