Thomas Morgenstern blogs on a great welcome, with the Austrian ski jumper overwhelmed by fan interest ahead of the Ski Jumping World Cup competition in Zakopane, Poland, this weekend...
Hi guys!
Greetings from Zakopane! We arrived on the bus yesterday and today we were out early for training and quali. The training was OK, I adapted quickly to the hill and I’m very motivated for tomorrow. I didn’t join the quali, as there will be three exhausting competitions anyway. The conditions here are very good. The light snowfall and wind haven’t really been a problem for us.
Even though it has only been the first day of training, the atmosphere was crazy today. I guess about 20,000 fans have been into the stadium already. From Friday to Sunday, about 200,000 people are expected to arrive. It's incredible! Local hero Adam Malysz has won three heats today, he seems to be in great shape. I’m looking forward to a fair and exciting competition with him.
Best wishes to all of you and especially to my fans in Poland, you guys gave me a great welcome today! Thank you, you’re amazing! :)
Thomas
