The sheer scale of human tragedy that has followed the devastating earthquake that ripped Port-au-Prince apart last week has touched the world and prompted a range of artists to band together to help the people of Haiti.

The world of music has also stepped up to raise money for the victims of the tragedy and support the efforts of Unicef and relief organisations in the country. Radiohead are taking time out from recording to play a fundraiser and a variety of stars are auctioning things on eBay, including more than 6,000 euros paid for a song written by Damon Albarn. Other items have been donated by Brothers, Pet Shop Boys, PJ Harvey and Coldplay (pictured).

There's also the Hope For Haiti telethon, which for two hours saw stars including Madonna, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera and Alicia Keys perform, as well as the cream of Hollywood on hand to answer the phones. An album Hope For Haiti, which features tracks from the event, has raced to the top of the charts of both sides of the Atlantic. You can download it here www.hopeforhaitinow.org

Of course, there's also the charity singles, with Simon Cowell putting his charges together in a studio with Take That, Rod Stewart, Robbie Williams, Mariah Carey and Kylie Minogue to cover REM's Everybody Hurts. Meanwhile, echoing another tragedy that happened 25 years ago, Black Eyed Peas, Usher, Barbra Striesand, Haitian-born singer Wyclef Jean, Tony Bennett and Akon – and hundreds of other stars got together after the Grammy Awards to record a new version of We Are The World.

If neither of those are to your taste, then try a version of I Put A Spell On You put together by Shane MacGowan and featuring Nick Cave, Primal Scream, Paloma Faith, various Sex Pistols and Clash types along with some chancer called Johnny Depp on guitar.

Of course, you don’t have to get an iffy cover to show your support, you can go straight to www.unicef.org.uk and donate that way.
