EC Red Bull Salzburg have received a boost ahead of their forthcoming Continental Cup campaign with the news that head coach Pierre Pagé has signed a new three-year deal with the club.

The hugely experienced Canadian, who guided the Red Bulls to success in the 2009 Red Bulls Salute and in the Austrian championship of 2008, also plays a major role in developing and expanding the juniors programme at the club.

In addition to his coaching role, Pagé inputs into infrastructure projects such as the Red Bull Diagnostics and Training Centre in Thalgau and a new training centre in Salzburg and the 61-year-old was delighted to be able to continue his work with the Red Bulls.

"I am delighted to be able to continue working on and developing the project introduced two and a half years ago, the Red Bull Hockey Model, together with the Red Bulls,” Pagé said.

“It has been very intense so far, and we will continue to work hard to achieve the ambitious goals we have set ourselves. But at the same time, it is very rewarding to be able to develop something great from which not only the Salzburg ice hockey club but also the entire Austrian hockey community can benefit."

The immediate task at hand for Pagé will be to mastermind the Red Bulls IIHF Continental Cup campaign, which is about to enter the third round stage.

They have been drawn in Group E with Liepajas Metalurgs (Latvia), Sokil Kyiv (Ukraine), and Cracovia Krakow (Poland).

The matches will be played in Liepaja, Latvia from November 27 – 29, with the Red Bulls looking to progress to the final in Grenoble, France in January 2010.
