Red Bull Skate of Origin – a skate comp with a difference – began today in Brisbane, in Queensland, Australia.
Street skaters – four from each of the states of New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria – will be joined for four days by a photographer and a film-maker as they skate over some of the Queensland state capital’s best landmarks, each predetermined so that all three teams cover the same areas of the city and capture it on film.
When time’s up, the teams will each post their footage on the website of Australia’s Slam skating magazine, with readers deciding over a number of weeks which state’s skaters they think have done their country the proudest.
Top Aussie skater Shane Azar led his fellow New South Waleans to victory over the other skaters at last year’s event in Sydney, but will the (goofy-stance) boot be on the other foot this year in Brissy?
