With the unkind weather continuing in Mount Beauty, what was suppose to be day 2 of competition at Red Bull Dirt Pipe was another day spent away from the pipe for the BMX riders. To pass the time, Red Bull riders Corey Bohan (AUS), Kye Forte (UK) and Anthony Napolitan (USA) took a field trip to the Bogong Dam which is located approximately 16 kilometres from the Mount Beauty town centre.
Following a winding road trip up and through the mountains of the Victorian alpine region, the boys arrived in Bogong and jumped on their bikes and rode through the dam wall avoiding the local inhabitants which included leeches, giant mosquitoes and more Bogong moths (of course). They took it all in their stride and kept their cool, and even managed to bust out some 450 tailspins, not letting the rain put a damper on their spirits.
More rain is scheduled for Sunday morning but the Bureau of Meteorology is predicting clear skies for the afternoon, and if they keep that promise and the pipe dries out, the riders may just be able to bust out their moves on the pipe on Monday afternoon.
