Finally all the riders for the Heli Challenge are here, I'll be heading up for the first riders meeting and dinner tonight. There will be a bib draw, I guess that's when I'll find out when I get to drop. Hopefully I won't get a big number, I really wanna get out there first! Then there will be a safety briefing. Everyone needs to wear a beacon when they ride in case of avalanches and really hoping we'll get a confirmation on when we will be flying.
The best part of competing is catching up with riders you might not get to see every day
Seeing I wasn't going up in the helis today I thought I'd have a go in the Treble Cone Bank Slalom. I haven't done a bank slalom for a few years but I know they're fun so I headed up. It was pouring with rain, everyone was soaked and pumped to get going. One at a time you ride the course of tricky terrain and tight turns down a bowl, it's pretty challenging. The best part of competing is catching up with riders you might not get to see every day and because the helis weren't on, everyone was up there. The person with the fastest time wins, you don't get to know your time until the presentation tonight so I'll have to let you know how I went later.
I've just heard that I need something to wear to a dinner so I guess that means a shopping day in Queesntown for shoes, pants, tie and shirt. I wasn't thinking of formal wear when I packed my snowboard bag, but I don't mind a bit of shopping!
Later,
Scotty
