Early morning start today, the helis were on! I got up at 6am and grabbed a quick breakfast then headed out to Hawea to meet up with the WHC crew, it was onto Makarora to finally jump in the Helis.
I was pretty stoked to get a win at the event
I was stoked to get going but we first had to go over all the safety stuff again and make sure everyone had their beacons. Last night I drew bib 14 - not exactly what I was hoping for, it meant I had to wait for 13 riders to go before I got to drop in.
Today was Freestyle you have to find the line you want to take, you want to put in as many tricks as you can until the finish line. You need to make sure you don't compromise your style and you needed to find the hits on the run to execute your tricks. In my first run I did a back 3, front 3, method and a double back flip. My second run didn't go to plan and took a fall at the top of the run so had to improvise the rest of that run. It was an awesome day and there is more coming tomorrow for the freeride day.
Last night I also got to go the the Treble Cone Bank Slalom presentation. I was pretty stoked to get a win at the event, and take home some prize money that will come in handy for my formal wear for the World Heli Challenge Dinner.
