Ski jumper, Thomas Morgenstern, looks back with delight on his victory in the Four Hills Tournament in his latest blog entry...
Hi guys! I’m already in Harrachov, where we will continue with Ski Flying tomorrow. So there is no time for relaxing, which is probably not even bad for me. It’s easier to stay focussed and tense this way.
Time for a look back: Yesterday I made a dream come true and claimed the victory in the Four Hills Tournament. This was surely one of the best days of my life. Of course there has been quite a lot of pressure before this last competition, but I had no problems in handling the situation. Even the short disruption before my first jump didn’t make me nervous. The feeling to take off and fly down facing 30,000 excited fans ... I can’t describe this with words, it was simply sensational!
The second jump was my extra bonus, a landing right into the middle of a sea of joy! Immediately my colleagues hugged and congratulated me, followed by my family. The thunderous applause of the crowd, the big fireworks and most of all the national anthem with hundreds of Austrian flags waving... I was so overwhelmed.
Today I had some time to take stock of the past few days. I’m simply super, super happy! I’m thinking of all the people, who supported me in the last years, in good and in bad times: family, trainers, colleagues, sponsors and of course my great fans! A big THANK YOU to all of you guys, this victory also belongs to you!
Tomorrow I will send you an album of all my favourite pics of the Four Hills Tournament. And then it’s time to face the next challenges! J
Thomas
