Red Bull THRE3STYLE is back in its second year to pit Australia’s crème de la crème DJs against each other to unearth the nation’s best party rocker. Melbourne is the third stop in this nationwide DJ competition, where competitors must play at least 3 genres in a 15 minute set to get the party started!
The VIC state qualifiers will be held at Roxanne Parlour in Melbourne on Saturday, 16th of June. Each mix master will be judged on track-selection, technical skills, originality, creativity and the DJ's ability to work the crowd, with only one rule; each DJ must play at least three genres of music in a 15 minute set. Participants may know all of the DJing tricks and techniques in the book, but if they can't get the party started and fists in the air, they don't stand a chance of winning!
The winners from each of the qualifiers will pocket a cheeky $1,000 and a chance to compete in the Australian Red Bull Thre3Style Final. The national champion will take home $2,000 and a trip to Chicago in September to represent Australia in the 2012 Red Bull Thre3Style World Final.
The hype generated from last year’s innovative sets, jam packed floors and fierce competition means the pressure is on for the defending VIC champ.
If that is not enough to get you off the couch, Yacht Club DJs will be playing a headline set to top off the night.
