Tum Tum Pa Rules
Rules
Red Bull Tum Tum Pa will take place across universities across Australia. Each university event will serve as a qualifier for the Australian final, which will determine the major prize winners who will be heading to Brazil!
Enter on your own or form a group of up to 4. Registrations will open at the designated location and time.
Red Bull Tum Tum Pa challenges students to come up with the most creative beats using everyday classroom materials such as pens, pencils, rulers, notebooks, clipboards and any other stationery that do not produce a digital sound (e.g. a calculator that beeps). And you can use Red Bull cans! Traditional instruments are not allowed.
The contest will see each team compete in two challenges:
1. The Cover - teams can choose any song their hearts desire and perform the track using their chosen instruments. Choosing a track your parents listened to when they used to drop you off at school may not be as recognisable as a track more popular with your generation. So choose wisely! Teams must advise of their choice at the time of registration.
2. Original Composition - let your creative juices flow with an original composition - but keep in mind the judging criteria - you could be missing out on crucial points!
The duration of each challenge can be up to 60 seconds.
Judging
Judging will be based on the following criteria:
Rhythm - the two challenges must produce a harmonic sound - not just a lot of loud banging!
Earn up to 10 points
Creativity - never thought you could do that with a stapler? Your choice of instruments, as well as your performance can change your status from loser to winner!
Earn up to 10 points

RED BULL TUM TUM PA - AUSTRALIAN WINNERS ANNOUNCED!!
The Australian Final of the Red Bull Tum Tum Pa competition has just wrapped up and we're excited to announce the winning team, who will be representing Australia, in the Red Bull Tum Tum Pa World Final, in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil in June this year.
Congratulations to the winning team from University of New South Wales (UNSW)!! Their team name Hitty Hitty Bang Bang was certainly a hit! Team members Claire Allen, Joel Richardson, Miriam Binskin and Murray James drummed, tapped and banged their way through to the Australian final and just beat out contenders from Griffith University (Gold Coast) in Queensland to win their way to Brazil!
The team performed a cover and an orginal composition using nothing but pieces of stationery. A roll of sticky tape, pens, a wad of post-it notes, a stapler, hole puncher and a bunch of empty Red Bull cans were their chosen 'instruments'.
Teams were judged based on three criteria: creativity, rhythmn and how they wowed the crowds. They edged out their competition with their originality, creativeness, enthusiasm and performance flare for all things stationery.
As the major prize winners, the team will be flown to Brazil to compete against 45 other university teams from around the world. Congratulations to UNSW's Hitty Hitty Bang Bang!
