About this Image: Icicles are very pretty on the side of your house, but hang one like this off the lip of a big cave and it's an adventure. This is on the first ascent of Skykkjedalsfossen, or as we came to call it, "Sketchy Fossen." Fossen is the Norwegian word for waterfall, and to our ears "Skykkjedal" sounded kind of like "sketchy”, and the climbing was super sketchy – difficult, steep, green, hard! As a friend of mine says, "Some stuff just fell off the top 10 list." We did this route, it is one of the top-10 all-time routes in the world by a big margin! A team attempting the second ascent nearly died when they were avalanched on the approach. It's a big alpine environment too, bring yer safety goggles!’
