About Josh
We’re all very familiar with surfing, body boarding and water-skiing, but wakeboarding is a water sport you don’t often hear about. Just ask Josh Sanders - he’ll agree and tell you that wakeboarding is still a relatively new sport.
This New South Welshman hailing from Nowra is renowned for his creativity on the board and is one of the world’s most skilled and experimental athletes on water. Putting his talent and potential to good use, Josh began competing in 2000 when he was just 19 years old! His never-before-seen tricks and maneuvers turned heads and his name was on everyone lips when he finished second at the Pro Wakeboard Tour in Abbotsford and an impressive first place in the U.S Open.
Sanders then dominated competition after competition including coming 2nd in the 2001 Ford Ranger Wakeboarding Pro, 3rd in the 2002 Mailbu Open and 3rd in the 2002 Pro Wakeboard Tour in Charleston.
His success continued and in 2005, he won a series of championship titles including 1st in the Asian X-Games, 1st in the Australia National Championships, 1st in the King of Wake World Cup and 1st in the Pro Wakeboard Tour, which Josh describes as being the highlight of his career so far.
In addition to competing, Josh is always thinking of new and creative ways to keep wakeboarding alive and evolving.
2008 and 2009 were exciting years for Josh. Proving that Red Bull gives you wings (and a whole lot of guts as it seems!), he participated in a variety of extreme wakeboarding events including the Houseboat Rail Project and Red Bull Wakeberg.
