Red Bull WQS Program
The Red Bull WQS (World Qualifying Series) Support Program was formed at the start of 2006 to aid Red Bull athletes competing on the WQS. The WQS is the only way into the WCT (World Championship Tour), both run by the ASP (Association of Professional Surfers). The Red Bull WQS Support Program helps talented young surfers realise their dreams of reaching the WCT, by offering specialist performance advice, costs, acess to the Red Bull Diagnostics and Training Centre in Austria and mentoring by former WQS competitor and graduate of the Red Bull WQS Support Program, Andy King.
In the first full year of the program, two Red Bull athletes qualified for the WCT - Royden Bryson & Ben Dunn. In the second full year of the program, Tiago Pires is currently placed in a great position to qualify for the WCT, after 8 long years on the WQS. Royden Bryson & Adriano De Souza are also in a position to gain re-qualification through the WQS.
The Red Bull WQS Selection Camp gives up and coming junior surfers a one year scholarship into the support program. It is a complete bridging program in the transition from their junior careers to the world stage.
